Levien van Zon is an Environmental Scientist and Theoretical Biologist. Additionally, he works as technical consultant for a number of companies and small NGOs. His main fields of interest include complex systems, self-organisation and sustainable development. Current research subjects include:
- Eco-evolutionary adaptation to changing climate conditions on multiple timescales.
- The ecology, epidemiology and evolution of influenza viruses in their natural habitat.
Other current activities include development of a solar-energy distribution system (Herman de Zonnestroomverdeler), and teaching at the University of Utrecht and at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
